                                                         ABOUT US

                                                    DANI HORTON

Dani has been around horses her whole life. She was born into a horse family and has enjoyed many wonderful oppurtunities because of it. Her mother, Norma Horton, was a horse broker and has never held a public job. Norma has ran many horse auctions and barns over the years. This introduced Dani to many different types of horses and people. Some of those people were very cruel and Dani hated the way horses were always treated as an object and not a living breathing animal. This was the begining of Hope Equine Rescue.

Dani started out as a child showing halter and western pleasure and then moved up to rodeo which was her calling. She has numerous titles in different events:

Barrel Racing: Florida District #6 2-D Champion

                     2 time NBHA world qualifier

Pole Bending:   FBRA Reserve Champion Pole Bender 2002

                      FBRA Champion Pole Bender 2003

Breakaway Roping: 1993-1994-1995 National High School Rodeo Qualifier

1993-1994-1995 Florida High School Rodeo 4th in the state

                             Numerous titles and buckles

Goat Tying:     1994 Florida High School Rodeo Reserve State Champion & National Qualifier

                     Numerous titles and buckles

These are just a few of her accomplishments.

                                                    WAYNE ELKINS

Wayne met Dani in High School and was introduced to the world of horses. He really liked it and purchased his own horse in 1997. He bought an aged roping horse that showed him the ropes. The horse he purchased had navicular and it was very important that his hooves were taken care of properly. Wayne learned how to shoe to keep his horse sound. Then he started trimming a few of Dani's horses here and there and that is when he decided to do it for a living.

He has been trimming and shoeing for about 12 years now and does it full time. He works on all kinds of problem horses. He does an excellent job of taking care of the horses that come into the rescue. We see all kinds of hoof problems and Wayne helps correct them.

Wayne also rides all the new rescues and determines what training they have. He is a very important part of the rescue.
